Hazaragi Culture Day

29 May 2025

The Hazara Students Association of India proudly celebrated “Hazaragi Culture Day” on May 25th through a grand online event. The program commenced with a warm welcome from the distinguished hosts, Ms. Fakhera Mohammadi and Ms. Zahra Moghadam. As they greeted the audience and extended congratulations on this cultural occasion, they introduced a short video clip. This visual presentation highlighted the journey, achievements, and resilience of the Hazara community’s political, cultural, artistic, and athletic figures. The first speaker of the event, renowned poet and writer Mohammad Sharif Saeedi, offered an insightful analysis of Hazara culture within the broader framework of Afghanistan’s cultural diversity. Mr. Saeedi emphasized that Hazara culture is deeply rich and dynamic—far beyond traditional attire, cuisine, or handicrafts. He underscored the importance of cultural contributions to societal pluralism, describing culture as a phenomenon that transcends religion and ideology, fostering unity and shared human values across boundaries of language, race, and belief. Following him, Dr. Sardar Mohammad Rahimi—a visiting professor at Inalco University in Paris and former Deputy Minister of Education—delivered a powerful speech titled *“Redefining Hazara Culture in an Age of Geopolitical Conflict, Migration, and Globalization.” Dr. Rahimi highlighted the inclusive values embedded in Hazara culture, including tolerance, gender equality, and democratic principles. He noted that in the face of mass migration of the Hazara intellectual class, cultural celebrations such as this are crucial. However, he cautioned that these events must align with universal values and avoid promoting narratives that conflict with modern global ideals—especially amid ongoing regional and Middle Eastern instability. Dr. Rahimi stressed that commemorating Hazara culture should reject extremism and radicalism. Instead, it should serve as a message of peace and coexistence—promoting harmony and mutual understanding both within the community and the broader diaspora. The cultural segment of the event continued with captivating musical performances by Nabi Delnawaz and Asad Sarkhosh, enriching the atmosphere with artistic flair. Additionally, Ms. Rahimeh Sepehrsay and Ms. Farzaneh Heydarzadeh, language students from the Roshni Educational Complex (under the guidance of the Hazara Students Association of India), recited touching poems and stories reflecting Hazara heritage. The event concluded with closing remarks by Mr. Abdullah Etemadi, Program Director at the Roshni Educational Complex. He highlighted key aspects of Hazara culture—particularly in the realm of education—summarized the evening’s key messages, and extended heartfelt thanks to all guests and participants.
