- History

The Hazara Students Association in India (HSAI), a non-profit organization founded in 2013, was originally called the Partaw Students Association. In 2022, the name was officially changed to Hazara Students Association - India to better represent the broader mission and vision of the organization.

The HSAI was founded with the main objective of supporting Hazara students in areas such as accommodation, documentation and integration. After the fall of Kabul to the Taliban, HSAI stepped up its efforts, offering free online courses in English and computer skills, as well as monthly webinars specifically geared toward empowering Afghan girls. The initiatives have made a significant impact on the lives of over 2,000 girls, helping to close the education gap that was widened by Taliban restrictions.

Under the new leadership of Shekib Jaghori and his team, with their inspiring slogan "Change begins with us", several notable advancements have been made for the current year. One outstanding achievement is the launch of the Roshanayee Bi-annual Magazine, which provides a platform for HSAI members and students to showcase their talents and achievements. In addition, the redesigned HSAI website by Mr. Jawad Yasa has significantly improved the organization’s online presence and accessibility.

In addition, the quality of English and computer classes has improved significantly. Thanks to the leadership of Mr. Abdullah Etumadi and Mr. Bashir Ebrahimi, these courses are experiencing remarkable growth and enrichment, providing even greater benefits to the students. The design and usability of the online learning platforms have also been improved by Murtaza Atayi, making it easier for users to navigate and work with the programs.

Mohammad Ali Erfan, who led the organization in 2024, made a remarkable contribution to the promotion of educational opportunities. During his tenure, numbers of  webinar that focused on scholarship opportunities and promoting girls’ education, were held. In 2023, he and Shekib Jaghori co-founded the Roshanayee Educational Society's English Language course, which was soon followed by the introduction of computer courses under the leadership of Bashir Hussain Ebrahimi.

From 2022 to 2023, Abul Hadi Haidari led the HSAI and extended its reach from Pune to the whole of India — a truly remarkable achievement. He also organized cultural events such as A Night with Afghan Students, Nawruz celebrations and folk dance performances that promoted cultural pride and unity among the Afghan student community in India.

HSAI continues to grow and adapt, driven by a commitment to empower Afghan girls and students, create educational opportunities and preserve Hazara culture and identity.
